It’s time for a fun new challenge over at the Really Reasonable Ribbon’s Ramblings Blog.

The theme for Challenge #60 is ‘Anything But a Card’ with Ribbon or Trim.

I have gone way back to my craft fair roots and made a Ribbon Pinecone Ornament.  I used to make these by the dozens and they were great sellers.

For this pinecone I used 7/8″ Double-Faced Satin in brown and old gold for the pinecone and 7/8″ brown for the top spikes and 5/8″ brown for the loopy bow.  The hanger is made from Gold Metallic String, all from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Now, I love the way this pinecone turned out, but don’t limit yourself to traditional pinecone-like color combos.  I have successfully made red and green, red plaid and purple, red plaid and royal blue, and many other fun Christmas combos.  No matter what colors you choose, your pinecone will be beautiful and festive on your tree!

I was going to do a tutorial for you, but after googling around a bit I realized there are TONS of tutorials out there already for this fun project.  If you want to give it a try, just google Ribbon Pinecone tutorial and pick one.

We hope you’ll head over and join our new RRR Challenge or just take a look at the other samples from the DT and the entries.  There will be lots of great inspiration!!

Happy Crafting!!
