This fabulous IOE Birthday Oval Embossing Folder is a generous 5″ x 7″ in size, but it’s set up in a way where you can easily use parts of it on an A2 (4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″) card which is what I have done today. What fabulous designing!
I decided to go ahead and create my card with the layering that I always love.
By eliminating the outer dot border, I was easily able to use all the other parts of the embossing folder on my A2 size card. I just love all the texture the embossing folder adds to this card.
I may possibly have gone a little overboard with the flower embellishments, but I like the subtle look of the embossing as it peeks out around the oval and in the corners. The flower embellishments are made with the Floral Bouquet Kit Die set from Cheery Lynn Designs.
The beautiful ribbons running across the middle of the card under the sentiment and also in the pretty bi-color double-loop bow came from the Pink and Purple Really Reasonable Ribbon July Ribbon Club Assortment.
I decided to ink the embossing on my card to really make it stand out. I love white on white embossing as well, but my card today has some bold colors, so I felt that I wanted the words and other embossed parts to really ‘pop’. I inked the embossing by masking as much as I could around each feature with Post-it Notes and then I used the small brayer attachment on my Zutter Tool-it-All to add the ink. I inked the corner embellishments with pink ink, the center sentiment with grape ink and the Happy Birthday in the oval was inked with white pigment ink. I heated this ink to set it since it was a pigment ink. I really like the look of the inked embossing.
