We have a big family picnic on the 4th of July weekend each year, so I decided to make this mini album to hold some of the photos from this year.  I had a 6 x 6 patriotic paper collection that has been collecting dust for several years and it worked great for this mini.
I am just starting to play around with minis, so I’m still working on page construction.  Once I get things a little more organized in my head, I will share some tutorials for different types of pages and ribbon embellishment.
I made the pages on this album flip out, so it almost doubles the amount of space for photos.  If you use all the pages and tags, you can put 7 photos on each page and still have room to journal on the backs.  With 5 pages, that’s 35 photos you can easily add.  Even more if you skip the writing and add photos to the backs of the pull out pieces as well.

I also strongly recommend Scor-Tape for mini album construction.  I use it for many things including attaching the pages to the binding and the binding to the cover and it’s very strong and secure.

I love the flag design paper on the back cover and all the perky ribbons peeking out the top and sides.  I even added a year medallion on the spine so we remember what year the photos are from.  I fussy cut the design paper and you can see I got ‘4th of July’ showing on the bottom.

My bi-color bow was created on my Bow-it-All V3.0 Tool with two of the 5/8″ ribbon styles from the May Ribbon Club Assortment from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  This bow is just my favorite bow for any project!

Hi friends.  Today I have a summer themed mini album to share that I made using some of each of the different ribbon styles in the June Ribbon Club Assortment from Really Reasonable Ribbon along with some Burlap String for the tops of my tags.

This is my first attempt at a mini album with this sort of binding, so I would love any tips you can give me in the comments section.

The June Ribbon Club Assortment is a pretty summer themed collection of colors.

New Anything Goes Themed Challenge this week at Cheery Lynn Designs

Hi friends.  This week we have a great new Anything Goes themed challenge over on the Cheery Lynn Designs Blog.  I hope you’ll head over and link up a project to share with us!

Cheery Lynn Designs launched several new Memory Book Dies with their last release that are great fun to work with.  I used the Large Hearts and Rings die for my mini album.  The binding die offers a variety of width options and it punches the holes used to hold the album together. You can use brads, larger rings or in this case I used some natural and red Burlap String from Really Reasonable Ribbon which I laced through the holes in a fun weave pattern.
Cheery Lynn Designs Dies used:
One of the things I love about dies from Cheery Lynn Designs is the fabulous detail you get.  Just look at the word Mexico and the sombrero.  The detail is amazing!  This Fiesta set is great for a mini album to document a trip to Mexico, you could embellish a fun Mexico layout or even make fantastic Cinco de Mayo party invitations!
I added some small ribbon loops on the side and embellished the top of the sentiment panel with a simple knotted piece of Sherry Diamond Satin Ribbon.  You know I can’t call it done without a bow!
I’m entering my mini album in the following challenges:
Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you’ll head over to the Cheery Lynn Designs Blog and play along with our challenge for a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to the Cheery Lynn Designs store.
