Happy Birthday to You

Hi friends.  Today I’m sharing a pretty floral birthday card using one of my favorite flower die sets from Cheery Lynn Designs along with some pretty ribbons and embellishments from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

I have lots of layer on this card, but I think it’s pretty easy to see from the photo how the layers were assembled.  I just love the Square Frames die for square cards.

My blue/tan background paper was made using Distress Inks spritzed with water.  I tend to make extra when I make my Distress papers and I actually created another card in this same color scheme which you can see HERE.

My flowers and foliage were created with the Floral Bouquet die set from Cheery Lynn Designs which is such a versatile flower set.  I used some of the same paper from my background for the blue flower petals along with some navy and kraft color cardstock.  The layers were also inked with an old script stamp for some additional interest.  The flowers and foliage were cut and then shaped with a stylus and foam pad.  The flowers were layered and finished off with some cool Metal Gear Embellishments from Really Reasonable Ribbon for a cool industrial feel.  I added a pretty butterfly to the right side of the card to balance things out.

My card was finished off with a pretty bi-color double-loop bow made on my Bow-it-All V3.0 Tool using Ivory and Capri Blue Delicate Stitched Satin Ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

My color palette today is red, white and blue which corresponds with the Really Reasonable Ribbon May Ribbon Club Assortment.  This is a very versatile and bold color palette and I think it works for just about any summer occasion.  I love how it looks on this birthday card.

I created my blue background paper and the papers I used for my flowers and butterfly using distress inks and distress oxide inks.  I used just about all the reds, blues and greens to create the papers.  I cut and shaped my flowers from the Floral Bouquet Kit from Cheery Lynn Designs using a foam pad and stylus and added the foliage and flowers to the lower left corner building from the bottom up starting with the foliage.  The flower centers are 10 and 14mm Half Pearls from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

My bow was created on my Bow-it-All V3.0 Tool using two of the ribbons from the May Ribbon Club Assortment.  You can see a third red patterned satin ribbon peeking out beneath the flowers and butterfly that I wrapped around the center of the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoy the rest of the hop.
Your next stop on the hop is AJ’s Blog.

The April assortment has 9 styles and a total of 17 yards of ribbon and trim.  The May assortment has 9 styles and a total of 18 yards of ribbon.  Each monthly assortment is a holiday or color themed assortment of ribbon.  What a fun way to build your ribbon stash and try new ribbon styles.

Really Reasonable Ribbon also carries a fabulous line of Mulberry Flowers that are perfect for all your crafty creations.  Head on over and take a look at all the different flower options that are available.  The flowers I used today below my sentiment panel are 15 and 20mm Open Roses in red, white and blue.

My background paper was created using Distress Inks in Festive Berry and Faded Jeans.  I applied it to my paper with a foam applicator and spritzed it with water to create the mottled effect.  The beautiful lattice background was made with a die from Cheery Lynn Designs.

My pretty bi-color double-loop bow was made on my Bow-it-All V3.0 using two styles from the May Ribbon Club Assortment.  I also used some additional ribbon from the assortment to wrap around the middle of my card under the sentiment panel.  My bow was embellished with a pretty 8 mm Flat Back Pearl.
